Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a skin treatment suitable for all skin types. It is a gentle method to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells and promote the appearance of fresher, more healthy skin. There is no down time and patients can resume normal activity immediately after the treatment.

The first stage of a microdermabrasion treatment involves cleaning of the sin with gentle suction. This removes the old dead sin cells and removes debris from pores. The second stage uses a fine stream of crystals to stimulate the skin circulation and also promote a small amount of collagen production.

Microdermabrasion is a very good treatment for acne. The suction removes all the material from clogged pores to open them. It also removes blackheads especially the stubborn ones. Microdermabrasion for active acne can be combined with laser therapy and topical creams and antibiotics. This provides a holistic approach to the acne prone skin.

A series of microdermabrasion treatments achieves the best results. Treatments are usually performed at 4-6 week intervals although with active acne weekly treatments may be scheduled.
